About the artist.

One of a kind silicone sea creatures and wearable accessories made by visual artist and crafter, Merman Garnet.
Garnet has a background in fine arts with an emphasis in drawing, painting and sculpting. He was able to translate these skills through platinum silicone, and has been creating for over 5 years and counting. In 2019, Garnet had the privilege of being a vendor at the first annual California Mermaid Convention.
His work has captivated and adorned the mermaid community from professional performers such as Merman Jax and the mermaids of Dive Bar, to hobbyists and enthusiasts.

“As an artist, I have always been inspired by the sea and the factual, cultural and mythological aspects to it. When I translated my skills as an artist into working with silicone, I started out by making seahorses sculpted out of plasticine clay.

From there, I wanted to create gender-neutral wearable accessories tailored to my vision. I am always happy and humbled to share my work with those who have expressed interest, and created my Sea Creature Armband line and occasional mermaid tops.

My work draws inspiration from art and jewelry of ancient civilizations. Throughout undergrad, I have taken courses on Art History and Archeology alongside Studio Arts, where the ancient world has taken shape on my craft and appreciation for the arts.”
